Measuring Up

"Dear Measuring Up,

My name is Melinda Hodges and I am a third grade teacher at Douglass Park Elementary School. I want to express my views on the Measuring Up to the Virginia Standards of Learning books.

First, as a classroom teacher these books are my right hand books; so many times I've had to go from book to book looking and searching for extended lessons but not no more. When I'm teaching reading, writing, and of course math; these books are right beside my children and me at all times!

Second, the books are very precise. The information is 100% in line with our Virginia Standards of Learning making it easy for our children and even myself to follow. The table of contents and correlation chart in the beginning of the book outline each standard and lesson!

Third, the books are teacher and student friendly. As a teacher from the state of Virginia these books are a tremendous wealth of help for my children to be successful in passing the third grade Virginia SOL(s) with full accreditation. I can see how this book raised test scores across the state in the fifth and eighth grade.

Thanks so much for turning my students and me onto Measuring Up. All the other teachers and administrators in this school and in other districts feel exactly the same as I do from what I've heard. In the future, I would like to see overhead transparencies and books in Social Studies and Science.
