To ensure mastery, there are four parts to every Measuring Up lesson:
- Focus on VA SOLs
Introduces the lesson content, taps prior skill knowledge, and lists the VA SOLs for the lesson
- Guided Reading Instruction
Shows how to apply VA SOLs skills and strategies to reading selections and includes Guided Questions that focus a student's attention
- Apply the VA SOLs
Students practice applying VA SOLs knowledge as they read
- Virginia SOL Assessment Practice
Wraps up each lesson with questions that mimic the Virginia SOL Assessment format
Building Stamina™ sections
Includes questions that tap higher-order thinking skills to foster success on the Virginia SOL Assessment
Flexible design allows you to focus on VA SOLs identified in each students' Personal Prescriptive Path (P3), select lessons that best supplement your basal text, or make Measuring Up® your primary text for comprehensive instruction and review.
- Allows time for instruction by using short reading selections
- Builds test-taking confidence with assessments that mimic the Virginia SOL Assessment
- Covers all the VA SOLs — not just those on the Virginia SOL Assessment
