100% customized to the NJCCCS!

Keep on Reading Science! helps students master science content reading. It also builds students' science literacy and sparks curiosity for exciting topics in life, earth, and physical science.

16 colorful, nonconsumable books per grade level focus on one high-interest topic from life, earth, or physical science (see below for titles). The proven instructional model teaches a single comprehension skill or strategy by guiding students as they apply it to four or five increasingly challenging nonfiction genres, usually concluding with a textbook lesson.

There are two books for each of eight key comprehension skills:

  • Recognize Nonfiction (Level B)
  • Main Idea and Details
  • Sequence
  • Compare and Contrast
  • Draw Conclusions (Levels B and C)
  • Make Inferences (Level D)
  • Fact and Opinion (Levels C and D)
  • Cause and Effect
  • Problems and Solutions

These comprehension skills correspond to the skills found in Keep on Reading! Comprehension Across the Curriculum, providing opportunities for more independent reading.

Fully customized to the NJCCCS, free, detailed Personal Prescriptive Path® (P3) Reports identify which of the Keep on Reading Science! units each student should complete based on their performance on the online pretest, which is available with FREE Skills e-Path™.
