Introduces, reinforces, and reviews essential writing skills

   

Grade Levels
How much time will it take to teach a complete level, including assessments, worktexts, and Building Stamina?

Whole class: 85 minutes weekly, year-round
Pull-out class: 55 minutes once a week for 4-6 months
Before/After school: 1 hour 2-3 times a week for 3-4 months
For intervention: Use selected lessons as needed

   

Completely customized to the ILS, Measuring Up® Writing gives you step-by-step lessons based on our proven best-practice model of instruction: 1) Focus on ILS, 2) Guided Instruction, 3) Apply the ILS, and 4) ISAT Practice. Use the lessons prescribed in each students' Personal Prescriptive Path (P3) report to provide targeted, differentiated instruction as needed.

  1. Focus on ILS
    Introduces the lesson content, taps prior skill knowledge, and lists the ILS for the lesson
  2. Guided Instruction
    Helps students analyze a model selection for specific elements of writing along and includes Guided Questions that focus a student's learning.
  3. Apply the ILS
    Students practice applying ILS knowledge to writing activities
  4. ISAT Practice
    Wraps up each lesson with questions that mimic the ISAT format
