Teach all the ILS or just the ones your students need

   

Grade Levels
How much time will it take to teach a complete level, including assessments, worktexts, and Building Stamina?

Whole class: 85 minutes weekly, year-round
Pull-out class: 55 minutes once a week for 4-6 months
Before/After school: 1 hour 2-3 times a week for 3-4 months
For intervention: Use selected lessons as needed

To ensure mastery, there are four parts to every Measuring Up lesson:

  1. Focus on ILS
    Introduces the lesson content, taps prior skill knowledge, and lists the ILS for the lesson
  2. Guided Reading Instruction
    Shows how to apply ILS skills and strategies to reading selections and includes Guided Questions that focus a student's attention
  3. Apply the ILS
    Students practice applying ILS knowledge as they read
  4. ISAT Practice
    Wraps up each lesson with questions that mimic the ISAT format

Building Stamina™ sections


Includes questions that tap higher-order thinking skills to foster success on the ISAT

Flexible design allows you to focus on ILS identified in each students' Personal Prescriptive Path (P3), select lessons that best supplement your basal text, or make Measuring Up® your primary text for comprehensive instruction and review.

  • Allows time for instruction by using short reading selections
  • Builds test-taking confidence with assessments that mimic the ISAT
  • Covers all the ILS — not just those on the ISAT
