Measuring Up to the California Content Standards employs a 4-part, instructional model that can be used year-round with struggling students to supplement your basal curriculum.

To ensure mastery of key concepts and skills, each Measuring Up lesson includes:

• Focus on California Content Standards
  Introduces the lesson content and taps prior skill knowledge
• Guided Instruction  Shows how to apply key skills and strategies from the California Content Standards to instructional text that explains Science content or processes.  Guided questions in the margin support comprehension.  
• Apply the California Content Standards
  Students practice what they’ve learned before answering questions in test format.  
• Assessment Practice  Wraps up each lesson with an array of multiple-choice questions that assess the key California standards.  

Grade 4 Content Standards Review in the back of the Level E/Grade 5 book provides review and practice for all the Grade 4 standards to activate prior knowledge and reinforce foundational concepts.
